Elder Nominations Open March 15 – April 5
Grace Presbyterian Church is entering an exciting new season of ministry. With a new strategic plan and many opportunities to deepen our community life and expand our mission in the neighbourhood, the congregation is invited to participate in an important part of our church’s leadership.
Every two years, Grace elects new Elders—leaders who help guide the spiritual life and mission of our congregation. This year, nominations for new Elders will take place Sunday, March 15, through Sunday, April 5.
The Role of an Elder
Elders serve a vital role in the life of the church. They are responsible for:
Providing spiritual leadership within the congregation
Exercising stewardship of church resources and assets
Offering pastoral care to members and adherents within a specific district
Serving on Session, the governing body of the church
Those elected will serve a six-year term on Session, and Elders in the Presbyterian Church are ordained for life. Congregation Communication
How to Participate in the Nomination Process
Members of the congregation are invited to prayerfully participate in this process by:
Praying for members of Grace who may feel called to serve.
Discerning individuals whose gifts and faith could strengthen the leadership of the church.
Submit a nomination with another member of the congregation (two members are required to nominate someone).
Completing the online nomination form below or using the form available in the bulletin or at the sanctuary entrances.
Nominations will be accepted from Sunday, March 15, to Sunday, April 5.
What Happens After Nominations Are Submitted?
Once nominations are received:
The list of nominees will be reviewed by Session.
Nominees will enter a period of discernment to prayerfully consider their call to this role.
The congregation will vote on nominees at the Annual Congregational Meeting in late May.
New Elders will be ordained in June and will participate in an orientation for their ministry.
