Preaching Grace
Exploring Big Questions of Faith
For years, Preaching Grace has been one of Grace Presbyterian Church’s signature annual events — a weekend designed to enrich Christian faith, deepen theological reflection, and build vibrant connections among clergy, students, lay leaders, and curious seekers alike. Hosted in Calgary by Grace Presbyterian Church, Preaching Grace brings world-renowned teachers and preachers to explore big questions of scripture, culture, identity, and how the gospel speaks into our world today.
The event spans multiple days, often including public lectures, workshops, masterclasses, and worship gatherings. Past speakers — including noted theologians like Dr. Norman Wirzba and Dr. Richard Topping — have offered fresh ways of reading scripture and engaging faith with curiosity, humour, and depth.
Preaching Grace is supported by the generosity of the Montgomery family, whose long-term commitment helps keep the event accessible while ensuring high-caliber theological engagement for all who attend.
Preaching Grace
Featuring Miroslav Volf | September 18–20, 2026
We are delighted to announce that the keynote speaker for Preaching Grace 2026 will be Miroslav Volf — one of the most influential theological voices of our time.
Volf, the Henry B. Wright Professor of Theology and Director of the Yale Center for Faith and Culture at Yale University, brings a life shaped by both profound intellectual engagement and real-world experience. Born in Croatia and deeply marked by the trauma and complexities of war in the former Yugoslavia, his work addresses how faith intersects with issues of identity, reconciliation, and public life.
His award-winning book Exclusion and Embrace was named by Christianity Today as one of the most influential religious books of the twentieth century — a testament to his powerful witness at the crossroads of theology, culture, and peacebuilding.
At Preaching Grace 2026, Volf will focus on his latest work, The Cost of Ambition: How Striving to Be Better Than Others Makes Us Worse — an insightful and timely examination of ambition, comparison, and what it means to follow Christ in a competitive world.
