Job Opportunity: Newcomers Support Lead (Part-Time)
Centennial Presbyterian Church is seeking a Newcomers Support Lead to help support refugees and newcomers who are beginning a new life in Calgary. This part-time role (15 hours per week) focuses on providing settlement assistance, coordinating refugee sponsorship processes, and helping newcomers access essential services and community resources.
Working alongside volunteers and church leadership, the Newcomers Support Lead will help coordinate newcomer arrivals, assist with refugee sponsorship applications, and provide guidance to individuals and families as they navigate housing, employment, healthcare, and other services in the city. The role also involves building supportive relationships with newcomers and helping them connect with the wider community.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit refugee sponsorship applications
Coordinate newcomer arrivals and settlement support
Provide orientation sessions for newly arrived individuals and families
Help newcomers access services such as healthcare, schools, and employment agencies
Work with volunteers to identify housing and other essential needs
Maintain connections with community organizations and support networks
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have experience in settlement services, social services, or community support work, and will be comfortable working in intercultural environments. Strong organizational skills, communication abilities, and a commitment to supporting refugees and newcomers are essential.
