Session Highlights
At its regular meeting on August 10, 2026 the Session:
- opened with worship, reflecting on the story of Moses encountering and being sent by God through the burning bush.
- gave thanks for the signs of growth and prayed for those who are in need of healing and comfort.
- welcomed Ian Charter and Greg Retzer to their first meeting.
- considered possible changes to Grace's schedule for celebrating communion. This will be further discussed.
- appointed Greg Retzer as the Alternative Representative Elder to the Presbytery of Calgary-Macleod.
- agreed with the Finance Committee's recommendation to allocate 60% of the aproximately $880,000 currently held in the RESET Fund to operational reserves, with the remaining 40% to be directed to Mission Outreach consistent with Grace's strategic plan.
- discussed a report on the many initiatives supporting Spriitual Growth for children, youth, and adults at Grace. Thanks was given for the leadership in the Church School volunteered by Anne Mohtadi. Additional nursery helpers and Church School teachers will be welcomed.
- approved revised Terms of Reference for the Human Resources Commitee
- appointed Vanessa Davidson to the Human Resources Committee and Greg Adams to the Finance Committee.
- received updates from the Lead Minister, the Volunteer Coordinator, the Enagement & Service Committee, as well as the Financial Statements for June.
- discussed correspondence raising concerns with Grace's current practice of including the Land Acknowledgement each Sunday and agreed upon next steps to understand and respond.
- closed with reflection and a benediction.
